Coalgate Scam
The Coalgate scam is about the misallocation of coal blocks by the Central government then led by Manmohan Singh. India’s audit watchdog, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, in its damning final report pegged loss to exchequer at Rs. 1.86 lakh crore due to the scam. Sudhakar reported about the scam’s link to Hyderabad and the subsequent investigation into the firms accused of procuring the contracts through deliberate misrepresentation of financial records.

Satyam Scam
In January 2009, chairman of Satyam Computers Byrraju Ramalinga Raju confessed to fudging the company’s accounts to the tune of Rs 14,162 crore. This corporate scam had repercussions globally with even the US Securities and Exchange Commission taking note of damages done by the fraud. Sudhakar reported extensively on the CBI investigation that followed the scandal and the subsequent arrest of Raju and his associates. Sudhakar stitched together reports from investigative agencies that explained the fraudulent methods used to cover up fake organisations used to re-route shareholder’s money. Sudhakar also wrote about the CBI interrogation of the accused, providing insight into Raju’s psyche.

Emaar Scam
Emaar scam exposed the nexus of corruption among real estate firms and government bodies. The CBI investigation revealed how the directors of Stylish Homes Pvt. Ltd. falsified financial records from the sale of plots. Senior officials of APIIC (Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation) were among the prime accused in the case.
